Mastocytosis
Mastocytosis is a disease in which there is an unusual proliferation of altered mast cells in one or more organs in the body.
Cutaneous mastocytosis (affecting the skin) occurs mainly in children.
Systemic mastocytosis, which can affect various organs, is predominantly diagnosed in adult patients.
In the majority of adult patients, the point mutation D816V in the KIT gene is detected.
